The Last Supper
The touring company, His Majesty's Magical Mystery Tour, headed by Steve Newcomb, a good friend of Pastor Shedd, will present "The Last Supper", a music-drama written by Steve, on Sunday morning, October 18 at 9:30 AM.
There will be only one service that morning, and brunch will follow the presentation. There will be a regular offering for the church followed by a special love offering for the touring group. Please plan to give "above and beyond" for this musical ministry. There are coming on a "love offering" basis, meaning that we have not contracted a set amount with them. (Yes, they are well aware of the unique aspects of WoF. :) )
All of the music was written by Steve, who was a music major at USC while Tom was at UCLA, and who later was Tom's roommate for three years in Pacific Palisades when Tom started directing music for Calvary Church and Steve taught music at Malibu Park Jr. High.
Steve and his wife Charlotte and their now grown children heeded the call of God to leave successful careers in Southern California to accept a ministry position at GoGlobal ministries in West Virginia where they now live. Steve has taken this presentation of "Last Supper" overseas as well as many places in the states.
One unique aspect of this program is that the roles of the disciples will be filled by WoF men. The touring company of 3 couples will take the other major roles in the musical. WoF's Bob Patterson will play Peter, and Anna Shedd will play the role of Danielle, a younger disciple.
The company brings all of the costumes, set pieces, lighting, and sound equipment for their production.
The 45 minute musical will be presented once, at 9:30 AM (there will be no 11:00 service that morning) and brunch will follow as usual.
Steve and the company are looking forward to the unique opportunity to present their music and drama ministry to Wings of Faith, and will be sharing some of the set pieces and costumes with the unsighted clients before the program begins in order to help them perceive the program. Since the Valley Village clients are sighted, we anticipate that this ministry will be well received by all.
