Statement of Faith

Wings of Faith is an independent church, formed in 1999 by five families. It is evangelical in theological understanding, but is not formally connected with any denomination or organization. Pastor Shedd received his seminary training at Western Seminary in Portland, OR (formerly Western Conservative Baptist Seminary), but WoF is not connected in any way with any Baptist group, nor any other for that matter. (Not that we might not in the future, but we just didn't start that way.)
Wings of Faith is supported entirely through the offerings of its members and friends. It receives no subsidy from any other organization. WoF is a registered 501c3 nonprofit corporation and therefore is able to collect funds and offer a yearly receipt for personal income tax purposes to those who desire such.
Wings of Faith meets at the Therapeutic Living Center for the Blind in Reseda, CA. (often shortened in our literature to TLC). WoF has no formal agreement with TLC other than that TLC allows us to have our service each Sunday morning in their building, and WoF invites TLC clients and staff to join in that service. In addition, TLC makes the Reseda Women's Club (which they purchased in 2005) available to us for special programs. WoF does not receive funds from TLC, nor does TLC receive funds from WoF. We have a wonderful symbiotic relationship with TLC, and we support the great work that they do and appreciate their generosity in allowing us to meet at their facilities.
Theologically we would agree with the statement of faith of the NAE (National Association of Evangelicals) and do not add any other distinctives.
Membership in WoF is voluntary, and those seeking membership must first complete an introductory class.
Wings of Faith believes that agreement on the big things allows for us to disagree on the small things because we are a part of the same body of Christ but we are each individuals.
Wings of Faith is firm in presenting the Brilliant Plan of God in Christ, and relaxed in following rules and traditions.
